Complete Promotek Review
We were initially excited about the idea of working with Promotek games. The games were on the better side graphically and they had a variety of games. They are Internet based which we were excited about because of the auto-updates on new games and there seemed like less hardware hassle with Internet Machines - at least intuitively
One of the first things to note is that you don't actually deal with Promotek directly. They are a foreign company based out of Italy. You will most likely deal with James a salesperson out of CA. James is knowledgeable about the industry. He is a good salesperson. He sold us on Promotek as being stating that a number of their stores had been rectified when they moved to Promotek. The one negative to James is that is he difficult to get a hold of for almost anything. We consistently left messages and while he would usually eventually call back but it would have been nice to get a more responsive person. Maybe he has added additional people since but I really don't know.
The cost to start with Promotek was less than other places. We initially purchased machines from James. But, when we realized we could just purchase our own machines we cut down on costs quite extensively. There is no need for a POS since these are Internet based.
Promotek has a variety of games: single line, multiline, keno, blackjack, & video poker. Their graphics are above average. They have a stripper games that the customers like quite a bit.
The biggest problem with Promotek and the games is that we consistently had technical problems with the games. We had spins where the reels would just spin and not stop. We had games freeze quite a bit. At first we were told that it must be us. We are very technical and had good machines and a good connection so we knew it wasn't us. We were able to get ahold of another store that used Promotek and they were getting the same problems. I assume that the issue derives from the fact that their servers are based out of Eastern Europe.
